Children are fascinated by watching seeds sprout. This is true especially when seeds grow quickly. Alfalfa is one of the easiest seeds to grow and should develop within one week. Sprinkle a small quantity of alfalfa seeds over a damp paper towel to observe them germinate and grow.

You'll require:

a packet of alfalfa seeds (about 1.5g)

A small plate or saucer

3 pieces of paper towel

A spray mister or a small water Jug

How to grow:

Lay 3 sheets of towel on a dish.

Drain the water from the plate. The paper towel must be moist, but the seeds shouldn't be floating in the water.

Place the seeds in a uniform manner on the towel.

Put the paper towel on a sunny window and add water to prevent the paper towel from drying out. You can use a mister or spray bottle to wet the seeds, or simply add a small amount of water to the saucer using the smallest cup or jug.

Everyday, look over your seeds and see how they are developing.

Troubleshooting

Alfalfa can be a very easy to cultivate plant that will begin to be able to germinate in between 2 and 6 days. Here are a few things to watch out for when your seeds fail to germinate in this time.

Too dry. Seeds require water to develop. Alfalfa seeds absorb around their weight in water prior to sprouting, which makes them appear like they are swollen. If your seeds are too dry, بذور البرسيم الحجازي they won't sprout. Incorporate more water into the plate until the seeds are wet but not floating in the water. You can also soak your seeds for a few hours. Be sure to remove them and wash them well before transferring them onto a paper towel.

Too moist Seeds that are too humid may cause their roots as well as their shoots to turn brown before they grow. There is also a chance that mould may begin to grow on the seeds. It's OK for the paper towel to get wet but the seeds should not be floating in water. Each time you water or mist the seeds, rinse off any excess water.

If you're cultivating your seeds in winter, place them in a warm location inside. You might need to keep your seeds hydrated more often if you grow them in extremely warm temperatures. They'll dry more quickly.
